So here are some after photos. I tried to look somewhat cheerful. Looks just like Jessica Alba's hair -- no? Picture everything that's from below my ears down as one skinny swath of hair -- and you can visualize the mullet. Except the layers weren't blended then. Honestly -- I am behaving like a big baby about this. I avoid mirrors at all costs. I try to look at the bright side you all pointed out. But the only benefit so far is that it only takes five minutes to do (as if you can't tell). I can't even start growing it longer until some of those stupid layers grow out. All I can say is that I am glad I didn't ask her to do highlights.
Oh -- and as for asking for money back -- it was crazy cheap there -- should have been one of my first clues I guess. It was only $25. But the fancy place? $65 for just a freaking haircut. But now I am scared to go anywhere else. I think I need to go visit my parents out East. My old hairdresser moved about ten minutes from their house!
p.s. -- seeing these I think I need to flatiron the back. I am just brushing it with a paddle brush to basically straighten it out. I haven't tried wearing it curly yet.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE your hair!

I don't think it looks bad, but I understand how you feel. I went to a new place once, right before a vacation no less, and really had a mullet. Seriously, it was super short on top, all but cut over my ears and long in back. UGH. The only way I could have fixed it was to cut the back all off. Needless to say, I found a new hairdresser and have been there ever since.
I would try a flat iron. I have very similar hair, very similar, and a flat iron works wonders! I think you would be happy with the results.

Jen, is it bad that I was expecting way worse? I think this looks rather nice, actually. I was picturing something very cropped, over your ears short in front, etc. this looks like a layered, shaggy bob to me. I know it's not what you wanted so it must be hard for you to see it objectively, but from where I sit, it's a nice looking cut on you (now that it was fixed, that is!) But you're right about it not being ANYTHING like Jessica Alba's hair. Not even close.
Try it curly - something completely different like that might be fun!

Your previous post is bringing back nightmares of 6th grade when I went into the salon and everyone said how pretty my hair was and I showed a pic of how I wanted it cut and the hairdresser kept insisting, "Just like your sister's cut" and I kept insisting, "No, like this picture!" and I ended up with a mullet like my sister...no one said a word about my hair AFTER I walked out of the salon...
So, I would try to get your money back at least...$25 is $25 and they did screw your hair up royally which meant you ahd to spend another $65 to fix it (I would make them pay for that, too, if it were me)
I think the new cut looks nice, even if it wasn't what you wanted...but trust me, I know how you feel. I ran out of every salon crying until I found Kim who does my hair now. My problem is mostly with straight hair people trying to cut my hair like someone who has straight hair...doesn't work...I need a curly hair person and Kim is that for me...

So been there, so many times, so many bad haircuts lately. I always swear that I will not go back to the cheap places. Yet I always do.
It does look cute, but if it is not what you want... everyone in the world, including Jessica Alba, could tell you that you look hot and it would make NO difference at all.

I know it's a shock to you but I actually like it. I love the layered look and I really like the length, it frames your face. You'll get used to it after a few weeks and if you really don't like it, it's only a matter of time before you'll grow out of that style. Hang in there.

I think it looks great. If you hadn't told us that there had been previous hair trauma, I would have no idea. It's a perfect length for summer and you look wonderful.
You know what, I WOULD go to your old hairdresser near your parent's place. I had a fantastic hairdresser in San Diego and after we moved to NY, I would return to her whenever we went back for a visit. It was worth waiting for a haircut to get one I knew I would love. I know that may not be possible, but hey, if you know when you're going to see them again, make an appointment!
